Correction: “A Christmas Carol” Opens November 18

Don’t you just hate it when local cinemas don’t follow international screening dates? All around the world, cinemas have already shown the 3D animated interpretation (by Disney) of the Christmas classic novella. I was counting on seeing it yesterday, but I was just disappointed. When I checked other cinemas in other Philippine cities, I found out that they too were not screening the 3D movie! So, what’s going on? Is it because of the recent calamities and the devastation they caused?

"A Christmas Carol" is delayed!

Blog Prayer Brigade–Rogue|Hero’s Prayer for Choosing the Right Successive Philippine Leader

Heavenly FATHER,

I exalt YOU for the amazing things that YOU present me every day. I believe that all that goes on in my life is within YOUR plan. Every detail—that has happened, is now taking place, and will occur—is patterned out. This fact puts me at peace; all praise is definitely to YOU alone.

Thank YOU so much for the experiences, lessons, and opportunities that YOU have given me. Thank YOU for the blessings, forgiveness, guidance, and healing. Thanks very much for being there in every phase of my life. Most of all, thank YOU for directing me to this blog prayer brigade that asks for YOUR guidance in choosing the next rightful leader of our homeland. Thank YOU oh so much for convincing and pushing me to be a part of it.

Forgive me, LORD, for my wrong thoughts, desires, and actions. Forgive my countrymen who continue with everyday wrongdoings or offenses to YOU. Forgive us Filipinos for our ignorance and misplaced stubbornness. Forgive us if we are set apart from YOU and are indifferent to one another because of blood feuds, culture, language, physical obstructions, philosophies, and religions. For every transgression, we ask for YOUR pardon.

LORD, I pray that YOU would grant each and every Filipino the guidance to choose the right paths and to make the right decisions. Most of us don’t know what to do and are lost on the roads of life. Shine a light, LORD, on what we should do, where we should walk, when we should traverse it, and how we would do it. Principally, help us to understand why it should be done. I ask this especially now that the 2010 Presidential elections are fast approaching. Guide us to choose not the good, rather, the right President for our country—someone who embodies YOUR Word; and in doing so, would maneuver us to progress. Do not allow us to be blinded by mere ads & representations and endorsements by the famous. Help us to protect our votes, our decisions, from unscrupulous buyers, cheaters, and the corrupt. Help us to maintain the integrity of the 2010 elections. Guide every Pinoy to be proactive in the elections. I pray that they we will understand and take up our roles and be part of this progressive movement in Philippine history.

LORD, I pray for peaceful elections. I pray that family and social wars related to politics would cease. I pray that people will respect and accept life and the occurrences that YOU allow to happen. I pray for tranquility for the victims of political violence and for the families they have left behind—specifically those killed in the Maguindanao mass murders. I pray that the executioners will follow their conscience and answer to their wrong deeds.

LORD, YOU alone are the leader of our homeland. In the end, every decision, act, and outcome is in YOUR control. YOU will always be the Father of the Philippines, now and forever and ever.

AMEN.

Rogue|Hero is my current nom de plume. It is a personal noun made up of contrasting terms.

"Rogue," as a noun, is someone who is dangerous, dishonest, and mischievous. As an adjective, it describes someone as unorthodox and unpredictable; it also refers to someone who lives apart from his group.

"Hero," on the other hand, is the obvious counterpart of Rogue. He is someone who performs remarkable acts of courage and possesses admirable qualities. Because of these, he is someone desired and looked up to by all.

I chose this alternate name because it embodies my current state. On the outside, I seem to be someone detached from society—an antisocial personality—but inside, I am still the same old good guy that I once was.

I am a 22-year old sub-urban guy who's currently not looking; rather, enjoying bachelorhood and having fun (but not messing around). I'm 5'7" in height and weigh 69 kilograms.

Hair? Black and white. I color it occasionally: Chestnut Brown, Black-Blue, etc. I sport it faux hawk, layered (rock star style, not emo), spiky, and my signature hairstyle, the buzz cut (semi-kalbo).

Eyes? Brown.

Skin? Two-toned: Bronze and light brown. I'm hairy—just enough for the male physique.

Built? I used to be stout—over 100 kilograms—but I put an end to that by dieting and working out in the gym (and in bed—Joke! He! He!) My frame is medium-large and I'm trying to shape it by putting on additional muscle mass.

Shirt size? Small to large, depending on the brand and where it was made.

Pants? 30 to 32 inches. I wear both briefs and boxers, medium to large.

Shoes? Size 9 to 10.

Diet? Whenever I can, six small meals a day, mostly protein.

Workout regimen? Free-weights, occasional machines. I'm targeting my abs and chest, so I'm doing curl ups with weights, knee raises, side-bends, pec flies, bench presses, and dumbell overhead pull ups.

Sports? Badminton and soccer, but only during P.E. classes. I wasn't really active in sports back then. I used to be 100 kg., remember? Now, I want extreme sports and triathlon.

Outlook in life? Positive, utilizing the negative to keep myself attached to reality.

Books? Humor/satire, murder mysteries, old British detective fiction, inspirational.

Movies? Damn! I love movies! Action, adventure, animation, comedy, disaster/doomsday, epics, inspirational, movie musicals, romance.

Music? Double damn! I love music! Acoustic, alternative, blues, classical, dance, disco, gospel, jazz, opera, pop, praise, punk rock, raw rock, RnB, soul, soul vibe, soundtracks, theater.

Television shows? American Idol. Britain's Got Talent. Cartoon Network. Discovery. Disney. I grew tired with local TV.

How others perceive me? Some say I'm gallant, a good friend (who isn't?), smart, witty, funny, pleasurable to be with, a great listener, and the list goes on.

How I perceive myself? Egotistic (obviously!) and narcissistic. Take note, both are different. Horny most of the time (sexually preoccupied), but never doing anything reckless. Laughs in almost every situation, even though it's not funny. (I may have psychiatric disorders, but I don't affect my own and everyone else's activities of daily living.) Bad temper, cold-blooded enemy. Despite all these, I'm GOD-fearing and revere being one with HIM. I know, it's contrasting; but that's just the way I am.

Profession? I am a Philippine-registered nurse: I took up four years of a bachelor's degree in nursing from a state university from 2004 to 2008. After graduating in April, I took the licensing examinations in June and was informed to have passed in July. After that, my professional nursing life never took off. I don't want to practice my profession. Sure, you get to help people who are sick, but I just cannot find fulfillment caring for the health-impaired. So, I got a two-month, contractual stint as a recruitment assistant at a contact center company. I liked it, but sadly, I had to end it. I then applied for a contractual web article writer position with a small outsourcing and offshore company. I am currently enjoying it—hopefully, I would stay long in it.
